Efe Chantal Ghanney

Efe Chantal Ghanney, a graduate of Yale University, is currently a medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai with an interest in Geriatrics and Palliative Care as well as the potential they have to be integrated into other medical specialties. Efe is a product of Ghana International School and has always been deeply rooted in the world of science, having completed the Cambridge A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in both Chemistry and French. In addition to her dedication to the medical profession, Efe has always felt a sense of obligation to give back to what she refers to as the community that raised her and so as such, has organized several medical supplies drives to underserved clinics in the Greater Accra region and is currently creating training modules for caregivers of cancer patients in Ghana to be executed in the summer of 2014. From her time in high school till now, Efe has served as a mentor to her peers and to those aspiring to chart a path in science and it is her ardent hope that she be able to serve as a resource in whatever way possible, to the women choosing to join the ARA-W family. For Efe, ARA-W is one step in the right direction to creating equal opportunities for women in science and medicine.
